ABOUT THE CHAPTER

Reasons to Join EAA 292

  • With 170 members there is someone in EAA 292 who shares your interests or can answer your questions.
  • Our clubhouse with tools can support your project.
  • Our monthly meeting, (2nd Saturday at 10:00 AM) is always informative. Sixty to ninety of our members attend each month.
  • Opportunities to pass on your knowledge and skills to young people through our Youth Activities Program.

MONTHLY MEMBER MEETINGS

Our monthly membership meetings are typically quite well attended and provide attendees an update of Chapter financial, event and project status. But more important, our Chapter regularly hosts presentations by outside guests as well as members. These presentations can range from technical overviews to project or flight experiences.

Meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 10am. Check out the calendar to find the next General Membership Meeting.

ADVANCED FLIGHT SIMULATION

Flight simulation can be an important tool to use currency and safety of our members. EAA Chapter 292 has invested in a robust facility that features several flight training simulators that can be used in conjunction with flight instructors to learn and maintain life-saving flying skills.

The Chapter maintains a dedicated simulator room which houses both a full-motion Redbird FMX simulator, an Elite Flight sim and several desktop simulators.

Members receive a free hour of simulator time and additional time can be purchased at a much-reduced rate. Check out all the details at the following link

CHAPTER EVENTS

EAA Chapter 292 hosts a number of events during the year. In addition to our our monthly membership meetings, the Chapter hosts a number of aviation safety programs as well as, annual events including a weekend fly-in and STOL Expo and holiday member events.

IMC/VMC

These monthly meetings provide a venue to review and sharpen our piloting skills through a recorded presentation followed by general discussion and member camaraderie. Each presentation focuses on situations featuring both VFR and IFR subjects.

Fly-In/STOL

Each year, the Chapter sponsors a summer weekend fly-in and STOL event. This is a great opportunity to see and experience some of the most unique aircraft from around the Willamette Valley (and sometimes even further). The STOL event takes place on the Sunday of the fly-in weekend and is a crowd favorite. All proceeds from this event benefits the Chapter's programs and events. The upcoming event page is in development and should be active soon.

Holiday Dinner Event

The Chapter also organizes an annual Holiday Dinner Extravaganza for members wishing to share the seasonal spirit with other members and guests.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

EAA Chapter 292 is very proud of our various Youth outreach programs. These programs inspire, educate and enable young people to become active in aviation. Our Chapter is among the nation's leaders in both the number of programs we offer, and the amount of participation by members and young people.

Young Eagles

The Chapter holds several Young Eagles events each year. These Rallies provide young people from ages 8-17 a brief introduction to aviation, followed by a flight piloted by our volunteers in their general aviation aircraft.

Youth Aviation Weekend

This program dives into the aviation subject matter a bit deeper for teen agers. Held twice a year, this hands-on, 2-day event teaches the basics of flight, construction techniques and career guidance. Many are invited to fly in our RED BIRD, full motion flight simulator.

Teen Build Projects

This program allows young people to get dirty building an actual, full-sized airplane. Volunteer Mentors guide youth through the various aspects of constructing an airplane from the ground up. Skills typically include metal fabrication, riveting, fiberglass construction, general mechanics and ground testing. These youth-built projects are purchased by private parties and proceeds generated are cycled back into the programs for the next project.
